Politics in the modern era resemble a camera flash in a thunder-storm, to those uninterested and misinformed the fascination international summits exercise on governments appears to be meek counterfeit of real political action ,meaningless monotone in which nothing is ever accomplished and no decision ever finalized. However aside from satisfying a personal hunger for prestige these cyclical and repetitive meeting regardless of whether they gather in the search of universal justice or to rally around the flag of faux environmentalism reveal with startling audacity the workings of the modern body politic. Although honest political action comes in lightning bolts , societal upheavals that can shift the course of the nation what is truly utilitarian is the modern body politics’ ability to manufacture such anomalies and through gross exaggeration demand laws be instituted and commissions given mandates . No where is this more evident than in Copenhagen 2009 where world leaders have gathered to debate an institution which will amount to a global taxation model. Under the proposed changes high emitters of greenhouse gasses will submit to an international body in confirmation that we live in a world so twisted that the logical fix for killing the planet is to divert resources to countries in which consumerism is still taking baby steps, help them higher more construction workers and fill colleges with engineers all foaming at the mouth at the prospect of a suburban home . All under the guise of building “green” infrastructure. This money should, as a last alternative be spent developing sustainable energy in countries that already pose a significant threat the world environment . sadly however this course of action would not put money in the pockets of those who some may argue need it most. in essence the poor nations of the world have once more devised a scheme to socialize the rich out of their well-earned affluence the peruvian president couldn’t have put it better “please act before it is too late “
However much I despise the totalitarian mullahs of the middle-east and the importation of such cultures under the guise of multiculturalism. it cannot be argued through senseless rhetoric that Islam is not a religion simply since it dominates all aspects of believers lives.since (in free societies at least ) the adoption of Islam and its many restrictions stems from the acceptance of basic beliefs about the nature of a creator and his wishes for every individual person. if Islam is not a religion neither is Judaism nor hinduism and scores of other legitimate faiths that all require strict observance from their followers.

It seems that our society has a sick desire to vindicate victims of unfortunate events through the “improvement of the system” creating a perpetual motion machine of emotional government that seeks to eradicate all flaw and fate from the human vocabulary by simply passing a law to patch it up. How much useless legislation will be passed passed until we recognize the limits of our own power?
Gone are the days in which international tensions would light the powder keg of conflict and explode in a volley of musket fire. In which armies would face each other and through a cavalry charge, could topple an empire of dissolve a constitution. Today’s soldiers don no uniform bear no rank and rarely die for a specific country. Rather the lives of martyrs and revolutionaries alike are sacrificed on the altar of an ideological feud that erupts in violence and therefore war. terrorists to not represent a classical civilian anomaly such a serial killer , they are the wolves in sheep skin ,who through the masterful exploitation of fear ,enabled by the naivety exhibited by western democracies who continue to prosecute them under criminal and civil law and attempt to advance their causes through religious, political and violent domination. In light of this terrorism is an invisible assault on a nation and its values. Governmental organizations must recognize this and prosecute enemy combatants under military rather than civilian law. However one must not be as naive as to believe that the only assaults on freedom are presented in the form of horrifying acts of violence executed upon a population .diligence is necessary in order to ensure that governmental agencies do not exceed their mandate and betray the spirit of democracy while fighting invisible enemies or political opponents. This dilemma now posses a complex problem, in which the transaction of liberty must be balanced with legitimate security concerns. On one hand the democratic relationship between the state and the politician is one of suspicion and mistrust on the other hand it would be ludicrous to suggest public opinion dictate what will become a component of the justice system. Rather the undertaking at hand must be approached through a careful combination of the military and judicial elements of the society mediated by an external body. Since we have established that terrorists qualify as soldiers rather than civilians we must specify which body is given the privilege to so objectively analyze a situation. As always criminals are brought before the civilian justice system however if the case may be that the judge suspects the defendant as fitting of the term terrorist he transfers the case to an independent body chosen in part military officials and democratic representatives of the people .this group torn by conflicting prejudices may hopefully cast aside their political duties and while acting in accordance with their moral ones will determine whether or not the act in question constitutes war. Based on the verdict the soldier in question may be sentenced by a military court or resume his trial before a justice of the peace. Public perception of terrorism is so entrenched in the mud of personal prejudices and obscured by headlines and psychologists alike that this may serve as a middle ground which will guide democracies, and people as they embark on the treacherous road to security
I sometimes wonder, at which stop on the never-ending rails of progress did our politicians, and us the people, lose our moral clarity? At which point did we sell out to the likes of the OHRT (Ontario human rights tribunal ) ,who have exceeded their mandate of ensuring a fair and equal workplace and successfully absolved evidence , the framework of our justice system of all relevancy .This feel good agency recently “convicted” a police officer of crime that does not exist and prosecuted him with a stereotype that was not only irrelevant but demeaning. Sergeant Stephen Ruffino was fined 5000 dollars for his “unconscious” profiling of a black woman which stems from a white tendency of “an expectation of docility and compliance “. Sharon abbot the “victim” was confronted about the cause of her erratic driving refused to properly identify herself and replied “I didn’t do anything , I know my rights ” ,Of course she does what minority member doesn’t understand their full legal status as victims and their rights that were so grudgingly handed over by their white oppressors ? It truly marvellous that in today’s “multi-cultural” society old racial stereo-types have been reversed while the founding peoples and cultures of this great nation have submitted to the OHRT and its affiliates, for fear that we may ravage the world with our prejudices once more.
